Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Over the last few months, as I have been launching this column, I have been trying to bring to your attention the problems that we face, some suggestions as to how we got there, a few recommended solutions, and perhaps a little humor from time to time so we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
As a species we are drawn to the negative. We are much more interested in the car crash than watching the seamless functioning of our transportation systems. We spend much more energy focusing on injustice than appreciating the justice that we do have. We rail against those who try to harm or insult us rather than appreciating those who love us with all of our flaws.
But on Thanksgiving Day, hopefully, we are drawn from the brink of disaster and encouraged to look at what we do have, to appreciate those who are our friends and family, and to experience the physical beauty of our everyday world if we would just look at it.
It’s too bad that we have to designate a national holiday to nudge us toward what we should be doing every day which is to thank God or for the unbelievers, thank our luck for what we have.
So, for this week, there is no column, no problems to evaluate, no injustices to remedy, no initiatives to promote. This week and in particular, this day, Thanksgiving Day, we give thanks for what we have and for what we are grateful.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your wonderful family Dave. You are among the BEST of the Best-In-Blue!!
Amen Brother!!
